The Dresses and Dreams Project’s Operation Prom Girl 2023~ “Crowns and Pearls” ~ was an amazing event held in April where girls received gowns, shoes, jewelry and more for their formal event. Most importantly, these young ladies arrived to find a beautiful sit-down event with a full itinerary that included speakers on real life issues who pointed to hope, healing, and identity. There was also a fashion show, luncheon, music and resources like Birthchoice Centers, Project 99, SAFE Family Justice Centers, Builders of Faith, Abundantly Authentic, Alcoholics Anonymous, and Roads to Empowerment. Special guest 103.5 The Vine radio station also joined us. In our 10th year, the Operation Prom Girl event is more than just a dress, it’s an experience that helps identify the needs of a teen with difficult circumstances, and helps to stand in the gap to point her to her full, God-given potential and help her remove barriers that keep her from it.
Goodie bags and raffle prizes were also received by each attendee and to date, over 2600 gowns have been given away through our free teen and military women’s programs. We are 100% volunteer staffed 501c3 organization dependent on community and individual partnerships.
